My brother wanted to get franchisees for our motorcycle parts franchise business so he asked for my help since I have a background in marketing and advertising.
I was confident that this will be easy so we gave out flyers and ran ads in a local cable TV station. We spent P10,000 pesos for both mediums. We got a few leads but all of them were not qualified.
I was embarrassed, what I suggested didn’t work..
Then, I discovered that it was cheaper to advertise in ABS CBN Batangas. I suggested it to my brother. He advertised for a ten-second crawler ads which cost 8,000 pesos to run.

Unfortunately again, we did not get a single lead. Imagine, P8,000 pesos gone in 10 seconds!
I was getting desperate and really wanted to find other ways to advertise without all the expensive costs!
My brother was now angry at me.
The following day, I researched alternatives to traditional ads so I used Google and I saw different kinds of digital advertising that are available. Then, I discovered Google Adwords. (now called Google ads).
I suggested to him that we just need a website to run Google Ads. We will be needing only P10,000 pesos for the website and P5,000 for the monthly ad spend. I was excited to try it but he said, he honestly does not believe it will work.
I was saddened because my own bloodline did not believe in me. But, my gut feel told me that this was it. I went back to him and told him that I’ll pay for the website and google ads with my own money and he could return the money back if it works.
The 1st day we ran google ads, in just a few hours we were getting a phone call from an ofw.
Within the 1st day, we got 5 additional qualified leads.
Then, the rest was history.
As of today, my brother got 26 franchisees/clients worth P50,000 each (total of P1,300,000 pesos) for only a spend of P260,000 pesos. So our ROAS (return on ad spend) from our franchise advertising was 5:1.
As of this reporting period, we have acquired 2,186 franchise leads and cost per franchise lead is $1.01 only.
Some of the strategies we have used this campaign to make this successful.
1. With enough data from Google analytics, we used the Paretto principle in optimizing our Google Ads campaign. We identified the top city, country , demographic we are targeting. In addition, we found out that our untapped market was OFW’s Then, we allocated more budget to this market and increased bids on this market.
2. We used a landing page instead of driving traffic to the website.
3. Once we got the lead, we use email marketing to warm up the audience. We don’t sell immediately. We send several emails where we give tips about business in general and which has nothing to do with the motorcycle parts franchise. In addition, we tell our stories about how we started.
People buy from people and not from businesses.
